Juvederm & Dermal Fillers

slide3Dermal fillers, such as Juvederm, help diminish the appearance of facial lines and can restore volume to the face. Dermal fillers can also be used to plump lips and improve the appearance of recessed scars. Dermal fillers can be used in combination with facial rejuvenation surgery to enhance results.

Types of Dermal Fillers

There are several types of dermal fillers. The most popular dermal fillers are comprised of hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in the body. These can include injectable dermal fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane. Results can last from 9 months to a year. Some studies have show than repeated use stimulates the body's production of collagen, reducing the frequency of treatments.

There are also dermal fillers made from synthetic or lab-made substances. The benefits include longer lasting results. These can include dermal fillers such as Radiesse and Sculptra. These fillers must be used carefully.

The Procedure

The injection site may be numbed with ice, an anesthetic ointment, or local anesthesia. The injections are generally well tolerated. Depending on the number of areas being treated, the procedure may only take 15 minutes.

The Results

Mild swelling or tenderness will go away after a day or two and usually does not require pain medication. The results achieve a more youthful appearance and an increase in your self confidence.
